I have been on quite the journey over the past few years while trying to figure out the best way to care for my maturing skin, and I’m guessing that most of you have encountered many of the same obstacles that I have along the way.

I already know that many of you share my skin concerns, because a few weeks ago, more than 75% of you told me you’re concerned about things like dark spots, hyperpigmentation, sagging skin, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Many of you have probably run into the same obstacles I have while trying to address those concerns, like expensive products that don’t fit your budget, or inexpensive products that don’t deliver results. I couldn’t be more excited to tell you all about the solution I arrived at, because I think it will prove as useful to you as it has been to me!

So let’s start at the beginning. I’d like to give you a little bit of background about my relationship, or lack thereof, with my skin and the concept of skincare over the years. As many of us are around the same age, I’m sure you’ll be able to relate!

My Fraught Relationship With Skincare

I’m highly embarrassed to admit that as a California girl growing up in the 70’s, the only two skin concerns I had were getting rid of pimples and maintaining a "glowing" tan. It never even crossed my mind that all that sun exposure might not be great for my skin in the long run. I'm also embarrassed to admit that I didn't start regularly removing my makeup before bed until I reached adulthood!

By the time I reached my 40th birthday, I had a much better knowledge of the dangers of sun exposure and was feeling increasingly concerned about the state of my skin. I vowed to be more purposeful in my skincare efforts from then on, but that turned out to be much easier said than done.

Finding the right products was proving difficult on two fronts. The first issue is that I was never really taught how to care for my skin, so I had no idea what products I should even be using, let alone where to get them. The second issue was that skincare products for aging skin all seemed to be targeted for specific issues, but it seemed like I was expected to know how to mix and match them on my own!

Everywhere I’ve turned for advice, I’ve either been told to try a product that was $195 for one measly ounce (true story!), or that I could find products just as effective at the drugstore for $20. Confused and uncertain, I found myself wishing I had a fairy godmother who could wave her wand and conjure up exactly what I needed, but no such luck.

All I really  wanted (and I’m sure many of you can relate) was a simple skincare system that addressed my skin concerns and fit my budget. But a few months ago, since I still had yet to find what I was looking for, I decided I would have to take matters into my own hands.

4. Wrinkle Recovery Night Serum

The star in my Wrinkle Recovery Night Serum is retinol, one of the top ingredients recommended by dermatologists for aging skin. I’ve tried a number of retinol products over the years that were too harsh for my ultra-sensitive skin, but this serum is much gentler thanks to the addition of soothing chamomile and carrot extracts.

Put it on before bed to promote skin renewal and minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while you sleep.

5. Ideal Daily Moisturizer

Last but not least, my Ideal Daily Moisturizer uses aloe vera and hyaluronic acid to instantly hydrate dry skin and lock in moisture. I don’t like heavy or greasy moisturizers, and this one is neither—it’s light and absorbs quickly.

Here’s how I use them as part of my simple morning and evening routines:

How To Use The Timeless By Jillee System

In The Morning

Step 1: Cleanse

Since my skin is so dry, I prefer not to use a cleanser in the morning. Instead, I just wipe my face with a cloth dampened with warm water, just to remove any sweat and freshen up a bit.

If you have normal or oily skin, my Purifying Daily Cleanser would make an ideal first step for your morning routine.

Step 2: Day Serum

After freshening up, I apply 2 pumps of my Illuminating Vitamin C Serum to my fingertips and gently massage it onto my face, neck, and chest. It feels nice on my skin and smells great too—the citrus aroma acts like an instant energy boost.

Step 3: Moisturizer

I finish off my morning skincare routine by applying a nickel-sized amount of my Ideal Daily Moisturizer to my face and neck.

These simple steps leave my skin feeling soft, hydrated, and ready for makeup application.

In The Evening

Step 1: Oil Cleanser

I start my evening routine by applying 2 pumps of my Nourishing Oil Cleanser right onto my dry, makeup-covered face, then I gently massage it into my skin for about a minute. (Sometimes I’ll get my hands wet in order to get a good lather going.)

Then I remove both my makeup and the oil cleanser with one of my One Fresh Face Microfiber Makeup Remover Cloths. I love the extra exfoliation I get from the microfiber cloth. I just dampen a cloth with water and wipe my skin in gentle circular motions to help lift the makeup and dirt off.

Step 2: Purifying Cleanser

Next, I finish off the double cleanse with my Purifying Daily Cleanser. I dispense one pump into my wet hands and rub them together to create a lather, then I rub it onto my face. When I’m confident I’ve cleansed my whole face thoroughly, I rinse off and pat my face dry with a clean towel. 

Step 3: Night Serum

After cleansing, I apply 2 pumps of my Wrinkle Recovery Night Serum to my face and neck and let it soak in for a minute. A little goes a long way with this stuff, which makes it a good value for the money.

Step 4: Moisturizer

Finally, I finish off my nightly routine by applying my Ideal Daily Moisturizer over my face and neck. It helps seal in the serum so it can work its magic overnight and leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized.

I’m not the kind of person who can stick to complicated or fiddly routines, but I’ve had no problem using this system consistently! I feel confident that the products are addressing my skin concerns and my routines are simple and something I can stick with for the long haul.
